Widgets are nothing but html code or application that translates into what you see on my sidebar…it enables a user to perform a function or access content online. So you can see here that I have a secret gift of the day, my opt-in form, my search box, my facebook widget, banners and other recommended links. All of these are widgets and I’ll be showing you as we go through our future trainings how to add a number of widgets that will help you with the functionality and effectiveness of your blog and how you interact with your blog traffic. Here you just drag and drop. For example I have a text widget where I can insert code, for example here is my a weber form. I cut and paste that code and it appears on my homepage in the sidebar. The same for my search box, facebook box, twitter goodies and banner adds. These ads essentially monetize my blog. I can put banners of products that I personally use and recommend and when people click on them and it results in a purchase I get a commission. It’s not a whole lot of money but is some extra money and it’s a passive way to add to my multiple streams of income.
