triwa theme is another great theme for news related blogs. triwa theme have pre-made social networking features, 125×125 banners and a well coded slider for featured news. Default is seven features news. If you need more, please email me.
You can choose 4 categories to be featured on homepage and choose the number of posts to be featured for each category via theme option page. No plugin or coding needed. Everything is in-build.
