5+ Free WordPress Hosting

June 13th, 2016 by admin

So, you want to be a blogger you want to use WordPress to build it. Or maybe you have a website idea and think WordPress would be the perfect way to organize your site? Have you researched WordPress yet?

There Are Two Versions Of WordPress: WordPress.Com And WordPress.Org

  • WordPress.com is the free version of WordPress, although you can pay for better themes if the free ones don’t fit the information you are trying to convey. Hosting is always free on WordPress.com, but there are limitations. For instance –you will need to upgrade if you need specific items added to your blog or website. However, free hosting or not, WordPress.com does have top-of-the-line security and spam detection.
  • WordPress.org, is currently used as a blog or website builder for about 24% of the web. The software itself is free (it downloads on your computer,) but you will need to pay for hosting, as well as your domain name. Sometimes this is the better choice, because if you pay WordPress.com for all the items you may need, it can be costly. WordPress.org has some free themes, but you can buy premium themes, too.

Why Free Hosting Is Not A Good Idea

Some domain sites, such as GoDaddy.com, will allow you to purchase your domain name and hosting, while providing a way to build a WordPress site within tools. Of course, this service is not free.

The main reason that free hosting isn’t a good option, however, is not because of hidden fees. It is because the security at their site isn’t very good. There have been stories of sites being hacked and taken over, or just out right stolen from the rightful owner. I liken it to that show “Naked and Afraid.” You are out in a wilderness, unprotected and vulnerable. Who knows what could happen.

If you are just learning and can’t afford a paid option, then use a free host. Just make sure that your site is a WordPress site. The protections built into either version will be a big help.

What To Expect From A Free Host

Well, that depends on the host. Let’s take a look, shall we?

  • WPNode.netFree-WordPress-Hosting-WPnode
    • WPNode.net is an option that some writers recommend. It is a free option from SiteGround.com, a hosting site well known in the WordPress community. The really cool thing is that it comes with support. I bring that up first because very few free-hosting sites offer that. Also, your site will be free from ads that randomly pop-up to increase the hosting sites revenue. Other highlights are:
      • 5G B of SSD storage
      • W3 Total Cache plugin – ensuring fast page loading
      • Supports SFTP – so you can download from the site and upload to the site fast
      • 1 GB of email
      • You can find out more at WPNode.net
  • X10hosting.comFree-Hosting-Cloud-x10hosting
    • X10hosting.com is another free hosting site that comes with some very attractive features. In fact, for a free host it leaves almost nothing out of its package. Of course, there are optional upgrades and you may have to pay for support, but it would be hard to find a better free host than this. Other things this site offers are:
      • Software tools like 1-Click Software install
      • Web builders
      • FTP tool that allows uploading and downloading, as well as editing
      • Complete control over the server
      • Allows configuration of email inboxes and multiple domains.
  • FreeHostingNoAds.netFree-Hosting-No-Ads
    • FreeHostingNoAds.net says that it pays for its hosting through current users that needed a more powerful account and have paid for an upgrade. According to its website, your site will be free for as long as you need it to be or as long as you follow its Terms of Service. Other features:
      • 20 GB space
      • 200 GB traffic
      • Fee Site Builder
      • 3 PHP Versions
      • POP3 Email account
      • A Control Panel to manage your account
      • FTP, Hotlink Protection, MySQL and other tools are also included.
  • Byet.hostFree-Web-Hosting Byet
    • Byet.host offers free hosting in the hope that you will become a premium member. The advantage to this site is that it owns its own servers, which is huge in the world of Internet security. It has many options and tools, including the option of using a domain name you already own. If you don’t own one, your domain would be “yoursite.byethost.com.”
      • A Control Panel to manage tools
      • 1 GB of free dis space
      • Script installers for popular sites, like WordPress
      • MySQL, FTP, PHP, etc
      • Free support and, of course, no ads!
  • Zymic.comFree-Web-Host-Zymic
    • Zymic.com offers free hosting at an almost professional level. Of course, it offers the features of the above sites, but it also offers free support, within reason.
      • No random advertisements
      • Tutorials
      • 50GB of monthly data transfer.

Beware

All the sites that I just listed are really good site for free hosting. Others are out there, but you MUST do your research. If your site is professional, you need to read reviews, features, and anything else you can find about the site you are considering. Security is everything, and must not be taken lightly. Sites are vulnerable to take overs, especially on free sites.

Why Paying For Hosting Is A Much Better Option

The best reason to pay for website hosting is Internet security. Paid host sites have reputations to protect, so server security is well maintained. In addition, a paid site looks more professional. Many free sites have their name in YOUR domain name. If your site is commercial, that doesn’t look good to a prospective client. Lastly, you can’t take your site with you. If you used their template to make your website, then choose a different host, you will have to start from scratch.

Do your research, learn the pros and cons, then do what is the best for your business. Your website will be better for it.
