How to Add a Contact Form to Your WordPress Website

If you’re setting up your website for the first time, then you’re probably wondering how to add a contact form to your WordPress website. Adding a contact form is an easy way for your readers to get in touch with you. In this article I’ll show you how to add a contact form to your WordPress website quickly.

Now if you’re like me, you probably researched for the best contact form plugin and then saw hundreds of different options.

Well after trying out several dozen contact form plugins in the market, I believe that WPForms is best WordPress contact form for beginners or anyone looking to quickly and easily add a form to their site.

For the sake of this tutorial, we’ll be using the WPForms Lite plugin.

To add a simple contact form in WordPress just follow these steps:

1. Login to your WordPress dashboard and go to Plugins » Add New.
2. In the Search bar, we want to search for WPForms 
3. Once we find the right one, click Install. After it’s installed click activate.

Now we’re ready to create our first form

From the left menu go to WPForms » Add New.

On the next screen, name the form something easy to remember.

You can use a form template from the list or start with a blank one. If you’re using a Pro version, then you have several form templates to choose from.

I’ll choose the Simple Contact Form template which is available in the free Lite version.

From here, WPForms automatically adds all the typical fields you’d need for a contact form.  Save your settings and you’re done.

Now that we have the form created, we need to add it to our site. You can add the form to a post, page, widget area, or pretty much anywhere you want on your site.

I already have a Contact Us page created so I’ll go to Pages and edit my Contact Us page.

You’ll see a new “Add Form” button next to the Add Media at the top of the editor. Click on the button and select the form we created from the drop down menu. You can also choose to add the form title and the form description to the page.

Click Add Form. This will add the WordPress contact form shortcode to your page. Now that I’m finished adding the form, I’ll click Update.

And now we can see the form in action on our site.

Customize Your WordPress Form

If you want to customize your form, the process is simple and easy to do. Click on WPForms from the left. Click Edit on the form you need to change.

From here, you can rearrange the fields by dragging them up or down. Choose a field from the left to add it to your form. You can also change the field name as well as the text on the button.

Save all your changes and your new form is set and ready to go.

How to Add WordPress Contact Form Widget

If you want to add a form to your sidebar, you can do that quickly and easily. After you create the form, go to Appearance–>Widgets and you’ll see a WPForms widget. Drag it over to your widget area.

From the dropdown, select the form you want to use. Then choose whether you want to show the form title or description and save your changes.

You now have a form in the widget area as well.
