How to Find Your WordPress Login Page

July 14th, 2015 by admin

Where is my WordPress login page?

That is likely one of the first questions you’ll ask yourself after you get your new business website up and running. In this article, I’ll show you how to find your WordPress login page easily so you can access it anytime.

Congratulations, you’ve setup your WordPress website and now you want to start writing articles for your business. Or you need to access the admin area so you can add your business pages like your About or Contact pages.

Or maybe you need to add a plugin to extend your site’s functionality.

Typically a new WordPress installation will have an area on the homepage called the Meta. Go your your site’s homepage and look for it in the sidebar.

You can also add /login or /admin after your domain name to access the WordPress login page. It will look like this:

http://example.com/login
http://example.com/admin.

If those simple links don’t work, then your hosting provider set things up differently and you’ll have to access the login page directly like this:

http://example.com/wp-login.php

If you’ve logged into your site before, your session might still be live and you’ll be redirected to your dashboard. If this is your first time logging in or if your session has expired then you’ll be directed to the username/password login screen.

For easy access you can either create a bookmark on your browser or you can add a link to your menu on your site.

To add a link it to your menu, after you log into your WordPress site, go to the Appearance–>Menu and add a custom link to the site’s Menu for easy access.

If your homepage doesn’t have the Meta widget showing, then go to Appearance–>Widgets and add the Meta widget where you want it to go. You can add it to your sidebar, footer area, or any other widget ready area.

Many people access their site from the same computer often, if you do that as well, you can also check the Remember Me checkbox on the login screen so you don’t have to login every time you want to go to your admin dashboard.

You can even install the Always Remember Me plugin that will check the box so you don’t have to remember to do it.

How to Add a Login Form on Your Site

All the suggestions so far have been links to the login page. If you want to add a login form on your sidebar, you can install and activate the Sidebar Login plugin and have a login from your homepage directly.

Once you get the hang of logging into your site a few times, finding the login page will become second nature for you and you can quickly access your site to make any changes you need to.
