Who is your web hosting provider? You know mamp is only for your own? computer right? If you need a host check out my video “godaddy vs blue host”…

When I activated duplicator there are two files to download. One zip file and installer(dot)php
I downloaded them, but I don´t know if I? have to put them into the wordpress folder (with the site name) on htdocs or inside htdocs folder.
I’m very confused. Please help me. I have a wordpress(dot)com domain and I want to use it with localhost.

The easiest way is to use a WordPress plugin called “Duplicator”. So once you activate the plugin in WordPress on your? hosted website, you’ll create a “package” with duplicator and then you’ll download two zip files.
Then create a mysql database with mamp and drop the two zips in your empty website folder in htdocs. then do the the local web address /installer(dot)php and it will ask you for the database name and instruct you from there.

If I want to take an? existing site and use it within mamp, what steps are needed?
September 27th, 2013 at 7:09 pm
I responded to the zip file on another comment.
As for the “not found in server” did you make sure the server light is on for mysql and use the right web address, using the folder name in htdocs? If yes and it doesn’t work let me know and i’ll see what I can do but i haven’t have this problem? myself.

Hey, you shouldn’t need the “MAMP_MAMP_PRO” zip file for this. As long as you? have the MAMP 2.1… box and open it for installation you should be ok.

so then when i did all the other steps like create a data base, i went and tried to put in the url link like you said the url thing? it didn’t work. it said “not found in server” and things like that what do i do help? ;-;
