It is always good design, for any website, to reduce the picture size to the size it will appear online. It will help with? the loading times.

Do you reduce the size of the pictures before uploading them? The 3-4 Meg pictures take a? long time to load and to view.

That probably means that your destination folder set for uploads/media is setup wrong. You might need to either add or take away an extra slash (/) at the beginning of the folder path in your Dashboard settings. For more help see wordpress (.org)?

So I’m a newbie when it comes to wordpress so please bear with me. I am using a local host (XAMPP?) while I teach myself this program. So every time? I try to upload any media I get an error reading “Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2012/12. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”……anyone? Thanks!

If you’re using the same NextGEN Gallery plugin, then at 2:58 they take you into the Manage? Gallery section, where you select the gallery, and right above where you change the picture names is the Sort Gallery button that they mention at 3:25 in the video.

I was able to follow with the video and create? Gallery’s but when I edit them I do not get the option to Sort the photos. Is their a option I must enable?

You can create a gallery folder using the File Manager. Navigate to your WordPress files from? cPanel > files > file manager > select public_html and your directory. There, create a folder for your gallery. Then you should be able to provide this path to the plugin.

The plugins section should be on the left side of your dashboard under the ‘appearance’ section. Remember, you most likely need to be running the hosted version of WordPress to enable and utilize these plugins. The regular free WordPress is not the same as WordPress installed on a hosting server? like the ones we have here at Bluehost.
