Ramble on, your voice is very soothing.

Seriously,? you should get into narrating stuff… Oh yeah, you already are 🙂

  2. AwfulMedia

Austin i’ve been watching your videos and they all are awesome and very helpful so far..and one thing that makes your video different from others is that you are teaching it from the very core part thats what i like about you…so don’t change your style you are going great. and yeah the rambling part is great as well…thanks for sharing your knowledge….keep? up the good work….good day..!

Hello Bryan! I do have a website tutorial series where we start by designing our website in? photoshop and then we take that and start writing code in notepad++. Please browse the videos on my channel and find the videos with the Photoshop to HTML/CSS thumbnails. You should watch those from the beginning!

  5. Bryan Kapali

thank you for sharing your knowledge with us..it helped a lot…but? do you have any Photoshop tutorials for making a website…if so the how can i get an access to them….!

Also, don’t think that using a framework will make you look any less professional. A ton, if? not the majority, of big studios are building on frameworks. It just makes the job, from prototyping to the final 10%, much easier and quicker.

  7. AwfulMedia

Yes I have heard of and used Foundation – It is a great framework. Now when he says “that’s what everyone is using”, obviously that’s not true, but it is a popular framework. Foundation uses a 12 column flexible grid just like a few other frameworks, so it should be an easy transition if you have used Skeleton or Bootstrap.

Also, about HTML5 and CSS3 for a portfolio: Yes. It appears? to be a current requirement to impress employers. Some designs can get by without CSS3, but HTML5 is important.

zurb, that’s what everyone is using….would u say it’s definitely time for html 5/ css? 3?

    Thank u.

feel free to ramble, gives us time to actually take a lil breal while u’re rambling, like getting a drink, taking a pee break etc….I just stumbled onto your page and can’t believe what u’re giving away for free, my dream in 2013 is to be? able to go from html/css to a decent WP themer, albeit responsive, that will be good….by the way have u heard of zurb foundation…when I called my friend who’s in the industry asking if I should do my portfolio in html 5 or xhtml n css, he just said grab

dont worry about it the more comments the better and thanks im following but you will most likely get more questions from me in? the next couple videos lol

  14. AwfulMedia

Sorry about so many comments but I want to be as clear as possible. If you’re asking if you can just save your theme you developed on a local host and upload it to a live? server and it work just fine, yes. The only issues you’ll have to avoid would be using correct URLs.

  15. AwfulMedia

The steps to developing your theme on a GoDaddy server would be the same as in my videos, although you would have to install WP on your web server and then access the theme. If you just try to view a PHP file locally without a server, the PHP will not be processed so nothing will work. PHP is processed on the server and the? resulting information can be sent to your browser.

So, start building your theme, upload to server, check it out, edit the theme, upload it, check it out. Rinse, repeat.

  16. AwfulMedia

I should make it clear that as WP uses PHP, it is a requirement to develop your theme on? a server. What I meant with my comment was it is not a requirement to develop it on a local server, you can use a live web server as well. PHP requires a server environment to function.

If you do not want to use a local server, you will have to develop the theme on a live web server. To clarify, you can write your theme however you wish, but to view the theme functioning, a server environment is required.

  17. jo Hanz

ok so i am assuming that once we finish making our wp theme we will be able to save and upload it to the go daddy server? btw thanks for the vids and the response? you are doing a great job contributing to the education revolution that is currently in effect i can’t w8 until i can contribute as well thanks again!

  18. AwfulMedia

Using a Mac I would suggest setting up MAMP. MAMP is like WAMP except for the whole Mac thing. If do not want to go this route, you could develop your theme on your GoDaddy? web server. The steps would be the same, although you would have to upload your files to the server instead of just refreshing the page. 🙂

So, no – a local server is not a requirement, but most developers prefer to work offline as it is more efficient.

i am a novice in html css javascript jquery php just recently learned i am currently trying to build my own website from scratch thru wordpress so this video n ur series is very helpful i just starting your video tutorials it is very hard to follow because i have a mac n my hosting is thru godaddy. is creating the wp theme on a local host part of the process or should/can i continue following along on with the videos? if i can please tell me how? to do it from godaddy so i can continue?

  20. themarathonseason

very helpful video. I’m a complete novice with wordpress or php in general so these tutorials are great!? I enjoy the rambles. Feels more like a Let’s play to me :p. I think you’ll have quite a variation in preferences though. Keep it up!

  21. AwfulMedia

Paul, what an? incredibly motivational comment. It means a lot. 🙂

  22. Paul Hannan

Another great video, thanks for your hard work man i’ve been doing web dev/design tutorials for years and you do it waaaaay better then most. TBH I like your rambles, it’s important to have a foundation of knowledge to understand what we are doing otherwise we are just copying your code like parrots. The problem with most other tutorials is they do not explain the underlying principals. Keep up the hard? work and the subs will come man! 🙂
