In this WordPress video tutorial, I’ll show you how to create Shortcodes in WordPress. A Shortcode is a WordPress specific way to add cool functionality with little to no effort. In this tutorial I’ll create a Shortcode function that will automatically jump out to any RSS feed and grab as many articles titles as you want. Code is Here: goo.gl

Hello Derek,
If I have one feed address that is not valid I get this error: Fatal error: Call to undefined method WP_Error::get_item_quantity() in… and none of the valid feeds? show. I have compared my code to yours and there are no outstanding issues, save naming conventions. It will not display the defined error message that the feed is not available. Should I add an if else for the $the_limit var?

I did enjoy the presentation and I’m glad you go fast. The viewer can play it again. Unfortunately it’s far more than? I was looking for. I just need something on the basic syntax of putting shortcodes on a page to make a plug-in work. I’m glad I found this though, because getting in over my head really helps me figure out what to you would seem trivial. I’m so new at this that I don’t even know a good question to ask, so diving right in might be just the thing.

This gives me a Parse Error…I copied in code as noted…I get this
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘:’, expecting ‘)’ in /****/****/public_html/wp-content/themes/****/functions.php on line 525
(*** used to hide common data)?
So what am i doing wrong.
