This video was made for a University of Hartford course I taught, for students who are using the WP-Folio WordPress Theme to build an online portfolio. This tutorial will explain how to use the ‘Slideshow’ style gallery, although the tips can be applied to *most of the other slideshow styles as well. The first thing you need to do starting from your WordPress dashboard is install the Next-Gen Gallery plugin. Go to ‘Plugin’ , ‘Add New’, Search for ‘Next-Gen Gallery’ , ‘Install Plugin’, ‘Activate Plugin’ Now that you’ve installed the plugin in the left hand column there is a tab called gallery. If you toggle open the options you will see an option ‘Add Gallery’. Select ‘Add Gallery’ Name your Gallery. You do have the ability to have multiple Galleries but we are starting off with just one. We will name our first Gallery ‘Gallery 1’. Then select ‘Add Gallery’ In the next screen we have the ability to upload our images. You can upload them individually from your computer, a zip file, or you can import an entire folder. For now we will upload some …

Hey Chelsea – regarding my slow WP? function… do you have hight speed internet?? I’m on a NEW mac mini with plenty of ram so it’s not my computer. But I do only have 3M of download speed. What’s your download speed??

Do you know any good plugins if I wanted each image to link to a webpage on my site? and If I wanted a radio button to change? the image/link on the homepage? I know how to code this but I just want a prebuilt plugin. Thanks for the great tutorial my slideshow works awesome!.

Hi Chelsea, thx so much for your tutorial! It really finally helped me get some sort of slideshow going on my website after a few weeks of puttering around with this! But I am having still a problem. I put text and titles,info in the “Alt & Title Text / Description” section for? every photo I was uploading and when I go to my site to look the photos are indeed there in the slideshow but no text, no titles, no description for the gallery, etc. What have I failed to do if you know?? thx
