Did you ever get an answer to this question? My apologies, if not!
My guess is that you need to create new page. Make that your home page, and then hide the link for that page. Have you selected a static page as your home page yet?

I try this but my button still shows up at the top with my theme. Any ideas why?? It doesnt matter if I make it a sub page it stays there.
